Owner of notorious campus bar Taylor’s sued by federal government over COVID-era relief funds

State liquor authorities in 2020 cited “serious and persistent problems” with behavior at Taylor’s Bar & Grill in revoking its license. The owner, Ramzy Hattar, is alleged to have fraudulently obtained nearly $350,000 in federal funding meant to help small businesses after the bar had already closed.

Luckily, Floral Hill Terrace plans to build 40 affordable housing units in the Laurel Hill neighborhood, some priced as low as $199,000. The only problem? Organized opposition by a subcommittee of the neighborhood association Laurel Hill Valley Citizens.
