Winchendon Food Truck Festival and Battle of the Bands returns June 27

The annual Winchendon Food Truck Festival and Battle of the Bands is set to return to G.A.R. Park on June 27, with free admission and a range of food vendors, local musicians, and new carnival-style midway game trailers. The event will feature 16 food trucks, artisan vendors, and a beer garden. The Battle of the Bands will also return, with musicians competing for audience support and bragging rights.

Athol Little League honors late board member Shaun Sherman

The 75th season of the Athol-Orange Chuck Stone Little League and Babe Ruth League will close out with a ceremony on June 27. There will be a dedication to late league board member Shaun Sherman, who was instrumental in improving Salevan Field. The event will include a pitch, hit, and run competition, prize giveaways and concessions.

Athol Royalston School Committee members resign following contract vote

Following a 5-4 vote by the Athol-Royalston Regional School Committee to extend Superintendent Matthew Ehrenworth's contract, Chairman Lee Chauvette and committee member Kiley Hall submitted their resignations.

Main Street repaving in Athol set for August, pending contractor schedule

The town-owned portion of Main Street in Athol is scheduled to be repaved in August, with the project involving milling and resurfacing, rather than a full reconstruction of the roadway. The project is expected to take about a month to complete, and four parking spaces near downtown crosswalks will not be re-striped to allow motorists better visibility of pedestrians. The Montachusett Regional Transit Authority has also proposed relocating bus stops on Freedom Street, which would require the loss of one parking space.
