Modern Slavery Statement
Everlit Inc. ("Everlit") does not tolerate modern slavery in any form. That includes slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labor, child labor, and human trafficking, whether in our own business or in the businesses we buy from.
This statement describes our business, where the risk of modern slavery could arise, and the steps we take to prevent it. Everlit publishes it voluntarily, following the framework of section 54 of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015. It covers the financial year ending December 31, 2026.
Our Business
Everlit is a software company based in Santa Monica, California. We provide an audio publishing platform that turns written articles into narrated audio for publishers, along with the tools to distribute and monetize that audio. Our product is delivered entirely online. We do not manufacture, warehouse, or ship physical goods.
Our Supply Chain
Our supply chain is short and consists almost entirely of software and professional services. The suppliers we rely on fall into a few groups:
- Cloud hosting, storage, and infrastructure providers.
- AI voice synthesis and text analysis providers.
- Payment, authentication, analytics, and monitoring services.
- Professional advisers, such as legal and accounting firms.
- Office equipment and general business software.
The third parties that process data on our behalf are listed on our Subprocessors page.
Where Risk Could Arise
We consider the risk of modern slavery in our own operations to be low. Our team is made up of skilled professionals who are engaged directly, work of their own free will, and are free to leave.
We also consider the risk among our direct suppliers to be low, since they are mostly established technology and professional services companies. The areas we treat as higher risk sit further down the chain, where we have less visibility: the manufacture of computer hardware and data center equipment, and outsourced labor such as data labeling and content moderation that technology providers may rely on.
Our Commitments
- Everyone who works for Everlit does so voluntarily, is paid at least the legal minimum for their work, and keeps possession of their own identity documents.
- We do not use forced, bonded, or child labor, and we do not charge anyone a fee to work with us.
- We expect our suppliers to meet the same standards and to comply with the labor and anti-trafficking laws that apply to them.
- We do not knowingly work with any supplier involved in modern slavery or human trafficking.
Due Diligence
The steps we take are proportionate to our size and the nature of our supply chain:
- When choosing a significant new supplier, we consider its reputation, where it operates, and whether it publishes its own modern slavery or human rights commitments.
- We favor established suppliers that publish their own modern slavery statements or supplier codes of conduct.
- If we learn of a credible concern about a supplier, we will raise it with them and ask for it to be put right. If it is not, we will stop working with that supplier.
- The people at Everlit who choose and manage suppliers are made aware of this statement and of the warning signs of modern slavery.
Measuring Effectiveness
We track whether any concerns about modern slavery are reported to us or identified through our own review. As of the date of this statement, none have been. We review this statement every year and will update it as our business and supply chain change.
Raising a Concern
Anyone who suspects modern slavery in connection with Everlit or one of our suppliers, including members of our team, customers, and suppliers, can report it without fear of retaliation. Reports can be made in confidence to:
